Lawrence, also known as Lawrence the Band, is an American eight-piece soul-pop group led by siblings Clyde and Gracie Lawrence. The band signed with Beautiful Mind Records, a record label created by Jon Bellion, in July 2019. They embarked on his Glory Sound Prep Tour in 2019 as the opening act. The band also released their third studio album Hotel TV, produced by Bellion, in 2021.

In an interview, Clyde recalled, "We were at NC State in 2017 playing a Spring weekend show. At some of those shows, we were the headliners, and some are more like festivals, but at this one we opened for [hit-making rapper, singer-songwriter] Jon Bellion, most famous for the single "All Time Low." Our dressing rooms were right next to each other, so his band mates heard us and told him he should check us out!" Gracie said, "Jon is such a great collaborator. He is so genuine and in a pure way, really cares about the music," while Clyde added, "If our green rooms hadn't been next to each other, this wouldn't have happened. We're cooking the same meal, just with different ingredients!"[1]

Regarding their collaboration on "Casualty," Lawrence said in a statement, "Jon is not only one of our favorite artists, but he's also a genuinely great guy, an amazing collaborator and a fellow New Yorker. We knew from the second he showed up to our first session in sweatpants that we were about to make some great music. I think with 'Casualty,' we've found a sound that still feels like Lawrence while injecting some of Jon's authentic style that we've always been so inspired by."[2]
